
She received training in Couples and Family Psychotherapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family and Fundación Aiglé Argentina and currently co-coordinates Proyecto Aiglé Guatemala offering different services in mental health and psychotherapy. Her doctoral education included combining academic training in Arizona State University, University of California Santa Barbara, Universidad Maimónides, Argentina and Fundación Aiglé Argentina, obtaining her doctoral degree in Psychology from Universidad Nacional de San Luis, Argentina. She has taught, supervised clinical and community internships, advised and mentor in areas related to gender, violence prevention, multicultural and community psychology, supervision, clinical training, mental health, counseling, wellbeing, and ethics.

Upon her return to Guatemala, while raising three children, she began her private practice as school and developmental psychologist and later, began her career in higher education serving in different positions at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala such as dean of college of social sciences, dean of the university college, director of the department of psychology, the master’s program in counseling psychology and later the doctoral program in applied psychology. Marrying a pediatrician with whom she shared the dream of pursuing professional, research, and academic developments, she moved to Houston where she worked at the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics, Texas Children´s Hospital at Baylor College of Medicine as psychological examiner and obtained a masters degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology at University of Houston. She pursued higher education at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala graduating as ¨licenciada en Psicología¨ a professional licensure degree that entitled her to practice Psychology in Guatemala.

After graduating as an elementary teacher from Instituto de la Asunción in 1977 she initiated her teaching career working in elementary and secondary schools.
